Emphatic victory for U9s v Penarth

16th November 2010

Last Sunday (November 14) the Dinas U9s team took on their local rivals in an away game versus Penarth.

The Penarth team looked to have a lot of players to select from. A previous encounter at a tournament early on in the season had been a close run affair with Dinas eventually coming out on top. In the two months since then the Dinas team has developed into a close knit squad of players that know each other very well. Although early exchanges between the teams indicated that the game might again be a close one, Dinas put together some effective driving runs, retained possession well and crossed the gain line repeatedly to give themselves a three try cushion with the half time score at five tries to 2. During the second half, growing in confidence, the team started to play a more expansive game and improved link passes and off-loads bore fruit. Coach Huw Tookey was enjoying seeing all the training ground hard work start to pay off. The second half belonged to Dinas as they romped in with a further seven tries to bring the final score to an emphatic 11 tries to 2. Well done team.
